The Madison County Sheriff’s Department report making an arrest Friday around Berea Road in regards to an assault.
Officials report speaking to the victim who claimed that her boyfriend, 24-year-old Nicholas Kates took her phone and changed the passwords to her social media accounts.
The victim also reportedly advised deputies that Kates allegedly grabbed her by the hair and proceeded to hit her in the face multiple times. Officials report identifying redness on the victim’s face.
Kates was reportedly acting erratic and “amped up” according to deputies. He stated to police that he didn’t do anything and the victim was just trying to get him into trouble.
Kates was arrested on an 4th degree assault charge and was found to have scratches on the back of his neck. He reportedly stated that the victim tried to choke him. Kates is now lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.
