The Madison County Community Fund Board recently voted unanimously to send $5,000 each to the Berea Food Bank and God’s Outreach Madison County Food Bank.
Due to the continuing government shutdown and lack of funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the Board decided to provide assistance to these two organizations.
Tony Crachiolo, the Executive Director of the Berea Food Bank, stated “such a munificent gift could not come at a better time and I cannot begin to express my gratitude in words.”
Jennifer Brubaker, the Hunger Awareness Coordinator with God’s Outreach Madison County Food Bank, sent a message stating that the Madison County Food Bank had received their funds today and were much appreciated.
SNAP was designed to alleviate hunger and malnutrition among low-income individuals and families needing temporary assistance. According to SNAP, individuals must have a gross income below 130% of the federal poverty level and net income below 100% of the poverty level to qualify.
The Madison County Community Fund is proud that they were able to assist those in need at this critical time in our country.
