The Madison County Board of Education passed a 5%, across the board, raise tonight during a special called meeting. That wasn’t it however, as the BOE also increased the starting salary to $45,000 and created steps for every year between years 13-20 so that now the salary schedule will reflect a step increase at each year of experience instead of no increase between certain years as was the case before.
The district made a $4.74 million dollar investment in salaries with this increase and in a social media post, the Madison County Education Association thanked the board and its members for making the investment in them. “Madison County values our educators and an investment like this, even when state funding was better than hoped, but still lacking, illustrates this.
As always, we appreciate the work of this board and will continue to advocate for our students and educators together.”
School will officially come to a close later this week with graduation for Madison Central and Madison Southern taking place Thursday night and Friday.
