The Madison County Sheriff’s Office says they are actively seeking a suspect following a shooting and assault that occurred late Friday night on Kentucky River Road.
According to reports, deputies responded around 10 PM to a report of a shooting in the area. Upon arrival, deputies located two female victims. One victim sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and additional head injuries consistent with an assault. A second female victim reported being threatened with a firearm during the incident.
The suspect has been identified as Christopher Morphis, 38, of Lenoir City, Tennessee. Following the incident, Morphis fled the scene in a Chevrolet Astro van.
The vehicle was later located abandoned on Carver’s Ferry Road with two flat tires. Authorities believe the suspect then fled the area on foot.
An extensive search was conducted utilizing Madison County Sheriff’s Office K-9 units and aerial drone support from the Richmond Police Department. Despite these efforts, the suspect was not located.
Just before 1AM on this morning, Madison County 911 received a report of a male observed on Ring camera footage running along Kentucky River Road.
Deputies responded and conducted an additional search of the area, again utilizing K-9 units and drone assistance, but were unable to locate the suspect.
Arrest warrants have been issued for Christopher Morphis. He should be considered armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts is urged to contact 911 immediately. Do not attempt to approach or apprehend the individual.
