Madison County Attorney Marc Robbins announced during today’s Fiscal Court Meeting his resignation as Madison County Attorney. Robbins, who served five unopposed terms as Madison County Attorney, was first elected in November 1998.
In his farewell address to the Fiscal Court, Robbins noted that his concern over the impending pension debate lead him to the decision to retire early.
“Our community owes a debt of gratitude to Marc for his public service, not only locally in Madison County but also statewide and nationally serving on many boards and commissions,” said Judge Executive Reagan Taylor.
“The role of appointing a new County Attorney is a role I do not take lightly” said Judge Taylor. “With the issues we have facing our County we will need an individual willing to put in the hard work and dedication to help the County navigate many legal issues including our detention center overcrowding situation, pension reform repercussions, as well as the day to day legal guidance a County of our size needs and demands.”
In accordance with KRS 63.220, the next step in the process will be for Judge Executive Reagan Taylor to appoint an individual to fill the term ending in January 2019. Judge Taylor anticipates having an appointment selected no later than the end of next week.
County Attorney Robbins’ last day in office will be October 1, 2017.
