Madison County voters made their voices heard tonight on the local option, county wide wet vote. The measure passed overwhelmingly by just over a 2 to 1 margin.
It was a low voter turnout by any standards in Madison County, with 20% of registered voters making their way to the polls. There was a total of 14,675 votes made in today’s wet vote. 9,883 “yes” votes, “4792” no votes, unofficially. That’s 67% yes, 33% no.
Once the vote is officially certified, the process of restaurants and other individuals seeking new licenses can begin. That will not be immediate, but changes are soon on the way.
