Madison Co. farmer and small business owner Andrew Simpson announces candidacy for State Representative

A Madison County farmer and small business owner announced his candidacy for Kentucky State Representative for the 81st District on Thursday. Per a statement in a campaign press release, Andrew Simpson operates Simpson Livestock and “brings more than a decade of hands-on agricultural experience and proven community leadership to the race.”

Simpson has served as the director of the Madison County Beef Cattle Association and chairman of District Eight for the Kentucky Farm Bureau Young Farmers. A spokesperson for Simpson says his platform focuses on defending constitutional rights, supporting farmers and small businesses, cutting taxes, and prioritizing education that prepares students for real-world careers.

“Kentucky needs representatives who understand what it’s like to work the land, run a small business, and raise a family in rural Kentucky,” Simpson said. “I’m not running to be a career politician. I’m running to be a voice for our families and bring more opportunities back home.”

Simpson emphasized his commitment to cutting red tape for agricultural producers, expanding rural broadband infrastructure, and defending property rights against what he calls “radical urban agendas that punish agriculture.”
