Madison Central XC Continues Top Performances

Rinse and repeat. That has been the early theme for the Madison Central cross country teams.

Over the weekend, the Indians continued their strong start to the season with another impressive showing at the Run for the Water Barrel meet in Clark County.

On the boys’ side, Madison Central runners dominated the top of the leaderboard. William Morelen captured first place, finishing in 16:49 and narrowly holding off teammate Peyton Richie, who finished just three seconds behind.

Easton Martin added another strong performance for the Indians, finishing third with a time of 17:17, while Madison Southern’s Sully Long crossed the finish line in fourth at 17:53.

Madison Central continued to pile up top finishes as Zachary Smith and Jake Bell finished fifth and sixth, respectively.

Tucker Batey of the Red House Runners homeschool team also turned in a strong performance, finishing eighth. Berea’s Eli Richardson finished 14th.

A total of 66 runners competed in the boys’ race.

On the girls’ side, 41 runners competed, with the Lady Indians also producing several strong finishes.

Lila Mullins led Madison Central, finishing fifth with a time of 22:49. Teammate Alejandra Ramirez followed, taking seventh place with a time of 23:11.

Katheryn Richie narrowly missed a top-10 finish, placing 11th with a time of 25:28. Red House Runners’ Emmery Cole finished 13th with a time of 25:55.

The strong performances continue what has been an impressive early stretch for Madison Central’s cross country teams. With multiple runners consistently finishing near the front of the field, the Indians are quickly establishing themselves as teams to watch as the season progresses.
