Natilee Wells, an upcoming freshman at Madison Central won her second national title this weekend in Las Vegas Nevada. Wells is a Brazilian jiu jitsu practitioner out of 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Richmond.
Wells traveled with her coach to Las Vegas to compete in the IBJJF American Nationals Event in both gi and nogi Teen 2 Middle Heavy Orange belt divisions. The event draws practionaers from all over the world.
In her gi matches Wells earned a dead orchard kimura submission victory over Guilianna Guitierrez in her opening bout. In her finals match Wells lost a controversial referee decision to Micah Kingery for silver in the gi division.
Eager to get that loss back Wells faced Guitierrez again this time securing a quick victory with an arm drag to the back finishing with a rear naked strangle. In the finals match Wells would meet Kingery again this time winning by a triangle submission. The submission victories earned her gold on the podium for the nogi division. Wells was pleased with this outcome as her jiu jitsu specialty is nogi jiu jitsu.
Wells will return to 10th planet Richmond and begin training with her teammates for IBJJF Pan Ams scheduled for July.
The 10th Planet Richmond team will return to the local competition circuit July 13th in Lexington KY for Newbreed.
