A London man was arrested by the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office early Monday morning, following a domestic shooting.
Sheriff’s Detectives responded to a Lake Road residence to investigate after a report of the shooting was made. When officers arrived to the scene, they located 37 year-old Stephen Wombles of London and a close family member of his. According to police, the victim was shot twice in the chest with a shotgun. Officials learned that an altercation between Wombles and the family member led to the shooting, which caused serious physical injury.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of their injuries. Wombles was arrested and charged with 1st Degree Assault and was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
