A death investigation is currently underway in Jackson county. According to police, they were called for a welfare check on John Cast Road. One person was then found deceased on that property, which is near Highway 577. At the moment, no cause of death or name of the victim has been released by authorities, and an autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow.
The coroner told LEX18 that the victim 65-year-old man was found dead in an apparent logging accident.
The coroner says the body appears to have been there for a while. A dog near the body refused to let officials near its master. Animal control had to be called before the victim could be removed.
