WBONTV recently spoke with President of the Friends of the Bluegrass Army Depot Cemeteries, Stewart Davidson. Davidson told us about the Bluegrass Memorial and Speedwell Cemeteries and how they are long overdue for maintenance.
“Fundamentally, both [cemeteries] are abandoned, and what I’m asking for is for volunteers to come out and help us”, Davidson says. The cemeteries have been neglected for long periods of time and require severe cleanup. Davidson says he wants to see the grounds mended so that “people can come look for their ancestors or pay respects to those that [they] already know.”
Friends of the Bluegrass Army Depot Cemeteries is hoping to accomplish a restoration of both cemeteries on September 7th at 8:30am. Davidson says the group is looking for anyone who can bring tools such as weed eaters, chainsaws, and mowers.
