The Richmond Fire Department along with state and county firefighters took part in a joint training in order to better hone their efforts for rescue in the event of an auto accident. Public information officer Corey Lewis of the Richmond Fire Department told Marisa Hempel that with each passing year, technologies in cars change, so the departments have to stay on top of their game. The yearly training involved firefighters using the jaws of life, as well as cranes and lifts in situations such as a tractor trailer being atop a small car with a patient in need of rescue inside. The variety of situations which use donated vehicles keep the fire departments moving forward with their detrimental, life saving skills.
