This morning, just after 7 a.m., the Mount Vernon Police Department responded to an injury accident on Highway 150 in front of the Heidelberg Materials Rock Quarry.
Emergency crews from Rockcastle County EMS found the driver of the car was deceased on scene.
After investigating the incident most of the day, investigators say that a front and loader was on the roadway coming from the entrance of the mine area to the loading area on highway 150.
It appears that the operator of the car struck the front-end loader causing severe damage to the car and fatal injuries to the operator. That man has been identified as Robert A. Rhodus, age 39 of Lexington. The operator of the front-end loader, Dalton J Miller, 28 of Mount Vernon, was not injured.
