Each school year, the Laurel County Sheriff’s office working in cooperation with Laurel County and East Bernstadt schools conducts their “School Safety and Security Walk-Through Program”.
This program provides an added level of security to Laurel County Schools including East Bernstadt Independent School while also giving staff and children the opportunity to observe deputies walking through their school’s hallways and school grounds to provide an increased level of safety and security in schools throughout Laurel County.
These random, unscheduled safety checks are conducted routinely throughout the school year, each year to help provide a safe learning environment. Please keep this in mind as you see Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies patrol cars in the school parking lots and when your children tell you about seeing deputies walking the hallways of their school.
The sheriff’s office will continue to provide this service regularly throughout the school year. Sheriff Root stated that “our children are among our greatest assets in Laurel County. Their safety is a priority at the Laurel County Sheriff’s office.”
