Attorney General Russell Coleman will announce a lawsuit against the gaming and social media platform, Roblox on Tuesday. The lawsuit alleges that Roblox knowingly has created a playground for predators to distribute child sexual abuse material and groom child victims.
Nearly two-thirds of all U.S. children between 9-12 years old play games on the Roblox platform. The company was valued at $41 billion when it went public in 2021.
Public reports have shown Roblox has become an environment for predators and other bad actors, including with so-called “assassination simulators” following the horrific killing of Charlie Kirk as well as with extremist sextortion groups that have extorted, threatened, and even conspired to kill children as young as eight.
For those who cannot attend, the event will be livestreamed here.
