A week-long closure of KY 52 (3rd Street) in Ravenna in Estill County will start Monday, Nov. 15, as work is set to begin to replace a collapsed drainage structure.
KYTC’s Estill County maintenance crew has been battling an ongoing sinkhole at milepoint 9.673, at the intersection of Poplar Street, for several days. The cause of the sinkhole was determined on Monday, Nov. 8, to be a collapsed clay drainage pipe. Temporary repairs have been made to keep the road open for the moment, but a permanent replacement of the pipe is necessary. That project will begin Nov. 15 and is expected to take a full working week to complete. During this time, the road will be closed to all traffic.
No marked detour will be posted, but drivers can use 4th Street or other Ravenna city streets to bypass the project location.
