Tomorrow will begin the annual Cram the Cruiser food drive, as a collaborative effort between Kroger and Kentucky State Police to benefit local God’s Outreach food pantry. All non-perishable food items will go directly to the local community outreach program and food bank.
According to Trooper Robert Purdy, all KSP posts participate in such drives each holiday season, and there is a bit of friendly competition between them all. Post Seven here in Richmond took home the trophy last year for largest amount of donations, and plans to surpass the record this year.
Purdy says that donations of non-perishable food items can be taken to the barrels at Kroger, or to Post Seven on the Eastern Bypass in front of Eastern Kentucky University from November 22nd through December 11th.
Kentucky State Police will also have a Christmas Party at the Richmond Kroger location on December 3rd, with hotdogs and even a possible visit from Santa Claus!
