KSP Unveils New Mascot

In light of the tragic situation in Floyd County last week, and out of respect for all involved, KSP postponed the planned 74th birthday celebration and mascot reveal event previously scheduled to take place last Friday. Our thoughts and prayers remain with the officers, their families, and the community.

The Kentucky State Police mascot is the newest addition to the agency community outreach program. The mascot is a custom designed bulldog created by KSP’s graphic designer, Aaron Tupts, and brought to life by BAM Mascots, Inc.

The bulldog reflects a Kentucky State Trooper with a fitted gray uniform and campaign hat. The mascot project is part of a community outreach effort to engage with young and old alike in a fun way that builds relationships with the citizens we serve. It will be used for community engagement details, such as our Hospital Visits, where Troopers deliver Trooper Teddy Bears to terminally ill children.

The bulldog image has been used over the years by KSP for various promotional events and was the inspiration for the mascot. The American Kennel Club defines the ‘bulldog’ as kind but courageous, friendly but dignified, a well-muscled canine whose face is the universal symbol of courage and tenacity.

Citizens can also see the mascot at events, including the Kentucky State Fair in August. Stay tuned for details on how to name the KSP mascot.
