The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team was requested by KSP Post 8 in Morehead today to investigate a trooper-involved shooting that occurred this morning at 11:30 a.m. in Rowan County.
KSP initial findings say troopers were dispatched to a domestic violence call near Morehead, Once on scene, the trooper encountered Mr. Thomas Crouch, Jr. of Clairfield, Ky. armed with a knife kneeling over a female in the residence. The trooper then fired his agency-issued firearm, striking Mr. Crouch, who sustained life-threatening injuries. He was transported to St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, where he later succumbed to his wounds.
The female sustained injuries during the domestic violence incident and was transported to SCRMC, where she was treated and released. No officers were injured during the incident.
This investigation is ongoing.
