Kentucky State Police recently arrested a Lexington man, who they observed traveling at approximately 96 mph in a 70 mph zone on I-75. The vehicle was stopped while traveling through Richmond.
According to the arrest citation, the driver of the vehicle told police that he was speeding because his girlfriend had experienced a seizure and he was trying to get her to a hospital. The officer reportedly noticed that the driver, Anthony Tincher, had constricted pupils.
Authorities called EMS officials to the scene to assist in the situation, where they also observed his pupils. Police say that EMS suspected Tincher to be under the influence of a narcotic.
When asked about it, Tincher allegedly admitted to taking “a few Lortabs”, and told the officer he takes opioids.
Further reading of the citation indicates that upon testing for sobriety, officials observed indications of impairment. Tincher was taken to the Madison County Detention Center where he was charged with Speeding 25 mph over the Speed Limit, Careless Driving, Operating on a Suspended or Revoked Driver’s License, and Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs.
