On Saturday, a Kentucky State Police Post 11 London Trooper was patrolling on U.S. 25 in the Conway Community of Rockcastle County. The officer activated their emergency equipment in an attempt to stop a Chevy 1500 pickup for a minor traffic offense.
The vehicle, driven by 26 year-old Courtney Duff of Mt. Vernon, began to accelerate at a high rate of speed passing several vehicles. Duff eventually lost control, causing the vehicle to flip several times before hitting an occupied residence.
Duff was ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries. She was pronounced deceased at the Berea Hospital by the Madison County Coroner’s Office. Two other passengers that were in the vehicle were also ejected. They were airlifted to University of Kentucky Hospital due to their injuries.
Alcohol and drugs are suspected in this ongoing investigation.
Kentucky State Police officials were assisted at the scene by EMS, Rockcastle Co. Sheriff’s Office, Mount Vernon Fire Department, and the Madison County Coroner.
