The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post was called just after 6:40 pm last night, and is investigating a two-vehicle fatal collision that occurred on KY-82, north of Irvine in Estill County.
The initial investigation indicates that Megan Newsome, 23 years old of Prestonsburg, was traveling east on KY-82 near Twin Creek Road when her vehicle crossed the centerline, and collided head-on with a vehicle that was traveling east, operated by Brenda Puckett, 60 years old of Irvine. As a result of the collision, Brenda Puckett was fatally injured and pronounced deceased at the scene by the Estill County Coroner. Megan Newsome and a juvenile passenger in Puckett’s vehicle were transported to the University of Kentucky Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
