KSP: Deceased woman found in suspect vehicle involved in multi-county pursuit

What Kentucky State Police officials are calling a routine traffic stop turned multi-county pursuit is now a death investigation. The high speed pursuit began around 10:15 Wednesday morning in Madison County, when police observed a motorist committing a traffic violation. The suspect then failed to pull over for a traffic stop initiating a pursuit.

During the pursuit, Kentucky State Police say the suspect vehicle struck several KSP cruisers. The pursuit ended after KSP deployed spike strips and utilized a pit maneuver to stop the suspect in Laurel County around the 43-mile marker.

KSP Post 11 Trooper Scottie Pennington stated during an afternoon press conference, that after removing the suspect from the vehicle, police located a deceased female in the back of the vehicle. Police are still investigating the cause of death. Kentucky State Police have arrested one male subject who they believe to be from Florida. The suspect is currently being held at the Kentucky State Police Post 11 in London. Police have not released the identities of either suspect or victim at this time.

As of now, emergency officials are encouraging motorists to detour to KY Route 909 or Exit 49 onto US 25, as Soutbound I75 lanes near mile marker 43 will most likely remain closed for the next few hours due to the ongoing investigation.

WBON-TV will release more details on this investigation as they are provided.
