On 08/13/17 at approximately 4:48 AM , Officers responded to apartments at 751 N. Third Street in reference to a fight in progress involving a knife. Upon arrival, Officers found the victim still at that location with blood on his clothing and face. The suspect entered the kitchen area and obtained a steak knife and threatened the victim. The victim and the suspect got into a physical fight and a knife was used by the suspect. The victim received injuries to his abdomen area and his hands during the physical altercation.
He was transported to Baptist Health Hospital in Richmond and then to University of Kentucky Hospital with injuries. The victim has since been released from the hospital. The suspect had fled the scene of the incident prior to police arriving on scene.
Officers received a tip that the suspect was at his residence and at approximately 6:08 PM, Officers located the suspect. He was ultimately arrested during the investigation and transported to the Madison County Detention Center to be lodged. Arrested was Gary Pensol,32 of Park Lane Richmond, Kentucky. Pensol was charged with Assault 1st. Pensol was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.
