An altercation which took place on the evening of March 19th at the Madison County Detention Center is currently being investigated by state officials.
The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post was contacted on March 27th in reference to an alleged assault that occurred at the Madison County Detention Center involving an employee and an inmate.
Security camera footage obtained by LEX 18 depicts a Detention Center guard striking the inmate after it appears that the inmate reached for the guard who was off camera. A second guard can be seen towards the end of the video entering the holding cell.
The guard involved in the altercation has resigned from his position at the Madison County Detention Center, while the second guard was fired after Detention Center officials say he failed to intervene.
The investigation remains ongoing by KSP Post 7 Detective Adam Hall. Once the investigation is complete, the findings will be presented to the Madison County Commonwealth Attorney’s Office.
The Kentucky State Police say there is no further information is available at this time.
