Waco Volunteer Fire/Rescue along with Kirksville Volunteer Fire Department and many other departments across the Commonwealth have just been awarded an AED grant through the Kentucky Fire Commission.
“This piece of vital, life-saving equipment will be carried on our apparatus, and will be deployed in medical emergencies that may require such equipment”, said Jason Rawlins, Asst. Chief of Waco Fire/Rescue.
“This new strategy of providing costly, yet vital pieces of life saving equipment to departments across the state that may otherwise not be able to afford such, is a wonderful program that will no doubt save the lives of Kentuckians and our visitors across the state”, Rawlins added.
This AED will provide firefighters the capability to deliver more advanced pre-hospital care for patients that need life saving CPR. This device alone highly increases chances of survival if and when resuscitation is required. Going forward Waco Volunteer firefighters will train on how to become better acquainted with the newly acquired equipment to better serve the citizens of their jurisdiction.
Officials with the Waco Volunteer Fire Department wishes to thank the Kentucky Fire Commission for recognizing these needs and finding a way to fulfill them.
