According to a new release from Deputy Judge Executive Colleen Chaney:
Judge Executive Reagan Taylor announced today the appointment of Jud Patterson as the Madison County Attorney. Patterson will fulfill the term vacated by County Attorney Marc Robbins who announced his retirement earlier this week at the Madison County Fiscal Court meeting. The term will run from October 1, 2017, until December 31, 2018.
“I want to thank Marc Robbins for giving me a heads up regarding his departure,” said Judge Executive Reagan Taylor. “It afforded me the time to be able to carefully consider who I felt would be the best individual to complete the remainder of the 15-month term as our County Attorney.”
Patterson earned his undergraduate degree from Illinois State University and his Juris Doctor from the University of Kentucky College of Law. He served in the Madison County Attorney’s Office as a prosecutor from 2009 to 2015. He represents, and will continue to represent, the Kirksville Water Association and the Madison County Water Utilities District.
“Jud has experience in and out of the courtroom that makes him a great choice to fulfill the interim role as county attorney,” said Taylor. “His time in private practice as well as his experience working in the Madison County Attorney’s Office allows him to dive in on day one and get to work.”

Patterson resides on his family farm in Madison County with his wife Brandi and their four daughters. He is a partner in Luxon, Patterson, and Himes, PLLC. Active in a variety of civic groups, Patterson’s service includes participation with Hospice, Kirksville Volunteer Fire Department, and the Kirksville Community Center. He is also a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Madison County Bar Association.
