Andrea and Brandon Gross have an autistic son, Anderson, and are organizing an event, they say, is going to make an impact on their small community and help not only the children affected by autism, but the teachers who regularly go above and beyond the call by spending their own money and resources to help provide for these students.
Andrea Gross states the event, planned for early spring, is in conjunction with the ASD/special needs children of Jackson County, and Judge Executive Shane Gabbard.
The event will be the 1st ever Autism Awareness Walk 2023 For Jackson County directly benefiting the children and their needs at school. World Autism Awareness Day is April 2nd and organizers say what better way to celebrate and educate than to donate sensory items to the schools. Everyone is welcome to come and show their support for such a great cause that does affect so many children in our communities.
The Autism Awareness event in Jackson County is also on Sunday April 2nd starting at 2 p.m. at the Sand Gap Park. All donations will be divided between the Jackson County Elementary Schools.
