A motorist was shot in the leg while traveling Tuesday night on I-75 near the 52 mile marker, by an unknown shooter.
The incident occurred just after 10 PM. The Rockcastle County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky State Police, Rockcastle Co. EMS, and the Mt. Vernon Volunteer Fire Department responded to a call from a woman with a possible gunshot wound.
Officials determined that the occupant of the vehicle suffered a gunshot wound to her upper legs. The victim was airlifted from Rockcastle Regional Hospital to the University of Kentucky Hospital for treatment.
Area law enforcement agencies were then contacted in an attempt to locate the vehicle driven by the perpetrator.
According to law-enforcement, the woman was unsure of where the bullet came from. The suspected shooter is still at large.
There is an ongoing investigation and Rockcastle County authorities are asking for your help in the case.
