Icy roads began plaguing drivers in the early morning hours today on I-75. Numerous wrecks caused a major backup northbound around mile marker 111 around 1:20 a.m. Reports indicate several motorists and semi-trucks wrecked in the area and backup up traffic for about three miles. Reports say two cars and three semis crashed in the area. By 6:30 a.m.
Lexington Police had worked around 50 cases of injury, non-injury, and motorist assist cases. Icy roads and conditions also led to some road closures in the area this morning. On I-64, around mile point 74, was reported to be a solid sheet of ice leading to several wrecks between I-64 and I-75 stretching from Lexington to Owingsville.
The interstate at Man o’ War is now back open, but interstate traffic there has been stopped most of this early Friday morning. Very icey conditions continue being reported as well on I-64 all the way to Sadieville in Scott County.
