With only about three weeks remaining before Kentucky’s primary election, candidates are out in full force across the state shaking hands and courting voters. Many of those candidates were here in Madison County Friday night, for the annual Republican Party Lincoln Day Dinner.
This years event was held at Chenault Vineyards, and it was a packed house in the large pavilion at the Barnes Mill venue. Gubernatorial candidates included Kelly Kraft, Ryan Quarles, Somerset Mayor Alan Keck, and a Madison County man, who is also running for Governor, Robbie Smith a math teacher at Madison Southern High School.
With the current Agriculture Commissioner, Ryan Quarles running for Governor this year, his office is left open, and both candidates on the Republican ticket, Jonathan Shell of Garrard County and Richard Heath of Mayfield, spoke at the event. Several other candidates for various offices attended and gave brief speeches.
The keynote speaker was Scott Jennings, a Kentucky native of Dawson Springs, writer for several major publications, and CNN conservative commentator. Jennings entertained and fired up the crowd at the winery.
Attendees were also treated to a great dinner. The event was sponsored by the Madison County Republican Party.
