8 hour standoff in Berea ends with tear gas, womans arrest

**UPDATED SUNDAY DEC. 3, 2023**

A long standoff in Madison County that lasted several hours Saturday, came to an end late Saturday night with an arrest. 

According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, the initial investigation indicates Misti Robertson of Richmond went to a family members residence on Fentress Lane in Berea, armed with handguns.  Robertson entered the residence uninvited and assaulted a family member after an attempt to disarm her.

Warrants were obtained for Robertson who refused to exit the house.

After many hours of unsuccessful attempts to negotiate, the Kentucky State Police Special Response Team introduced CS gas into the residence. 

Robertson exited the home and was then captured. 

She was taken to the Berea hospital were she was treated and released. 

Misti Robertson, 46 years old of Richmond, was lodged in the Madison County jail and charged with Burglary 1st Degree,  Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree (2 counts), Assault 4th Degree, Unlawful Imprisonment 1st Degree (2 counts) and Terroristic Threatening 3rd Degree.  

The case remains under investigation by Madison County Sheriff’s Office Detective Donovan Nolan.   

Kentucky State Police Post 7 Richmond, Kentucky State Police Special Response Team and Madison County EMS assisted at the scene.
