Winchester Road was shut down last night after a pedestrian was hit and killed by an oncoming vehicle. According to police reports the man was crossing Winchester & Elkhorn roads near I-75 on foot when he was hit. The accident reportedly happened at around 10pm and the vehicle left the scene but the driver was located soon after and is cooperating with Lexington Police. The victim has not yet been identified but the coroner stated he was a known panhandler in the area.
