An apparent hit and run driver is responsible for hitting a main gas line valve on Speedwell Road in Madison County Tuesday night December 5, 2023. That caused a major gas leak in the area. That according to officials with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office,
The incident occurred sometime just before 8:30 in the 1800-1900 block of Speedwell Road, near Hickory Lick Road.
Both lanes of Speedwell were closed for safety while crews with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Waco Fire Department, and Madison County EMS stayed on scene for around two hours. Technicians with Delta Gas responded to shut off the gas and repair the broken valve.
The roadway was reopened around 10:30 p.m.
