This severe weather day has overtaxed police and fire departments with numerous downed trees, power outages, and reports of fires.
Units remain on scene of a house fire of the historic home across from the Main Street Gulf station near downtown. The home reportedly suffered moderate damage to the rear. The home was full of personal items that have hampered firefighter’s efforts to fully extinguish the blaze challenging.
Main Street at Fifth Street is expected to remain closed to traffic for another couple of hours.
