According to Sheriff Mike Coyle, on Friday January 21st, 2022 at approximately 4:42pm Deputy S. Johnson observed a red Chevrolet Camaro with no registration plates traveling on Hwy. 1016.
Deputy Johnson initiated a traffic stop and discovered the operator, identified as Aaron Higgins, was found to be a non-licensed driver out of Indiana. Further information confirmed that Aaron Higgins had an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of Breckinridge County, KY.
Upon exiting his cruiser to place Aaron Higgins under arrest, Higgins ran back to his vehicle, got inside and started the vehicle.
Higgins sped off at high rates of speed as Deputy Johnson pursued.
Higgins was unable to complete a curve on Northway Drive and drove off of the roadway through a yard. Higgins came to a stop – as the result of a collision in a ditch line.
The subject then fled from the vehicle on foot through the yard with Deputy Johnson giving chase on foot.
Higgins was apprehended and placed under arrest without further incident.
Higgins was transported to the Madison County Detention Center on the following charges:
• Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree
• Fleeing or Evading Police, 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle)
• Fleeing or Evading Police, 1st Degree (On Foot)
• No Operators-Moped License
• Reckless Driving
• Failure of Non-Owner Operator to Maintain Required Insurance; 1st Offense
• No Registration Plates
• Speeding 26 MPH or > Speed Limit

• Speeding 26 MPH or > Speed Limit
• Reckless Driving
• Failure of Non-Owner Operator to Maintain Required Insurance; 1st Offense
• Fleeing or Evading Police, 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle)
• No Operators-Moped License
• Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree – 2 Counts
• No Registration Plates
• Failure To Produce Insurance Card
