Yesterday, around 4:32 p.m., Stanton Police Department responded to Clay City Elementary in reference to a report of gun shots in the area, and a projectile penetrating the glass of a rear door to the school. WBON-TV has obtained a photo of the glass of the school the reported projectile entered.
Stanton Police department report an investigation was conducted and at this time, preliminarily, they were unable to locate or determine what the projectile was. In a statement the agency adds “After reviewing surveillance video, we are confident that the projectile came from somewhere off campus in what we believe to be an incidental manner. We will continue to investigate in an effort to determine the type of projectile and source of the projectile.”
Stanton Police officials stress there is no threat to any students and this incident occurred post-dismissal. A custodian was present nearby the area in which the projectile struck the glass.
