Ground breaking for new law enforcement training facility held in Richmond Monday

Today, July 10, 2023, Governor Andy Beshear was joined by other state and local officials, to break ground in Richmond on a new training facility for Kentucky’s law enforcement officers.

The new “Jody Cash Multipurpose Training Facility” will be a 42,794 square-foot facility with a 50-yard, 30-lane firing range designed for officers to learn important skills that will allow them to better protect their communities. These new features will allow for more intensive and specialized training, ensuring that officers can protect the public and themselves. Principals say the facility creates more instructional space without causing noise disruptions to the surrounding area. Construction is expected to be completed in 2025.

The facility is named in honor of Jody Cash, who lost his life in the line of duty May 16, 2022, while serving as chief deputy of the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office.
