A former Jackson County sheriff was arrested after Kentucky State Police discovered a marijuana grow operation. Dennis Peyman was arrested and charged with cultivating marijuana and trafficking in a controlled substance of anabolic steroids. According to the arrest citation, police executed a search warrant on Peyman’s home, where they uncovered over 60 marijuana plants, as well as vials of the steroids. Peyman served as sheriff for Jackson county until 2014, when he also made headlines for interrupting a court proceeding to arrest the county treasurer and judge executive. A lawsuit came about after these charges were dismissed, and Peyman faced a $62,000 settlement.
