At 6:20 am this morning, the Estill Country Fire Department responded to a call in Irvine in regards to a fire at the former Kirby’s garage location near the corner of Pea Ridge and Richmond Road.
When fire fighters arrived on the scene, the 80 by 30 foot building was already demolished by the flames. Authorities feel that the building had been burning for a while before the call came into dispatch. The building was no longer used as a garage, and reportedly was only used for storage.
Nobody was harmed in the fire, but the owner reported to authorities that the fire damaged two vehicles inside. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire, but say they suspect that it started from a wood burning stove inside.
