Former Estill County Clerk Brian Crowe was in Estill Circuit Court on Friday where he admitted to some serious allegations.
These allegations were made following a state audit which scrutinized three years worth of finances of the Estill County Clerk’s Office. Crowe abruptly resigned in 2024 after the audit reportedly revealed budget overspending, missing cash deposits, and incorrect payroll calculations among other various offenses.
Crowe pleaded guilty to abuse of public trust along with other charges. Reportedly, the prosecutor has recommended a five-year prison sentence, but Crowe’s attorney says they will seek probation before the final sentencing scheduled for May 23rd.
