The Mount Vernon Fire Department continues to battle a blaze in downtown Mount Vernon this afternoon.
The fire broke out around 12:30 today in a commercial building at the corner of Main Street and Richmond Street. The building is locally known as the former Mount Vernon Signal (the local newspaper) building.
The roadway is closed as firefighters work to extinguished the fire.
Multiple agencies responded to assist including Berea Fire Department, who, aided with an additional ladder truck.
