A former Jackson County Treasurer has now been indicted: on charges related to her alleged theft of 160,000 dollars. 37 year old Beth Sallee of Mckee was charged with ten counts, including charges of aggravated identity theft, wire fraud, and theft from a program receiving federal funds.
According to the indictment, Sallee wrote checks payable to herself and then deposited them, without any approval from the Jackson County Fiscal Court. Signatures of other County employees had also been forged on some of the checks, and Sallee had allegedly gone to great lengths to conceal the thefts on financial documents, as well as requested removal of check image from bank statements. There is not yet a date for Sallee to appear again in court.
