The Estill Couty Resue Squad says the call last night after dark about a horse in flood waters and the owner needing assistance getting to the animal on Kirkland Avenue.
Millers Creek Fire & Rescue responded with 4 Large Animal Rescue Techs and City of Irvine Fire Department assiste. on this call.
The horse was cold, wet and muddy but the crews got her out of harm’s way working in the darkness and cold weather.
According to Public Information Officer Letisha Morris, as of this morning, the horse’s owner posted on social media “She is still with us and waiting on a vet to assess her condition. This group of professionals most definitely saved a life last night. During the worst of times, you find the best people. Thanks again.”
