Kentucky State Police Detective David Hobbs has presented the findings of an ongoing murder investigation to the Estill County Grand Jury regarding the murder of James D. Carmack in Jackson County.
40-year-old Carmack was found shot inside a vehicle near Highway 1209 and Richardson Road in McKee on May 18, 2025. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
As a result, the Grand Jury has now indicted James S. Bergman, 24, of Irvine on charges of Murder, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Abuse of a Corpse.
He is still lodged in the Three Forks Detention Center since his arrest in connection to the case on August 20, 2025.
The investigation remains ongoing by KSP Detective Hobbs.
