Estill County Judge Executive Wallace Taylor Announces Early Retirement

Today, Estill County Judge Executive Wallace Taylor announced his retirement, which comes a year before his term is officially up. Judge Taylor has served the people of Estill County for a total of 15 years spanning four terms, which makes him one of the longest running officials in the seat for the county.

Wallace Taylor spoke with WBON-TV’s Marisa Hempel right after the announcement, and told her that this was a carefully planned decision, which he discussed with family, co-workers, elected officials, and constituents for months.

Taylor cited health concerns, growing pension uncertainty, and his long run in the position as reasons for his stepping down. He also reiterated that he wished to take the action by the end of the year so that all knew he would not plan on running again. Watch the video to catch Taylor’s reasoning, as well as hear the highlights from his nearly two decades at the head of Estill County.
