An overnight fire in Estill County has apparently left two people dead.
The fire reportedly started around 1:30 this morning at the home on Cherry Street in Irvine.
A neighbor reported the fire after reporting hearing an explosion and saw flames coming from the home.
When fire crews arrived at the home, they say they found a man and a woman dead inside, now identified Christopher Popp age 52 and Melissa Neal age 40, both of Irvine
The home has been deemed a total loss and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Both subject’s bodies have been sent for autopsies.
The Irvine Fire Department was assisted on scene by Estill County Fire Department, the Hargett Fire Department, Irvine Police Department and Estill County EMS.
