Pastor Greg King is not a stranger to being a Magistrate for the County in District 4, as he served a term from 2010 to 2014. He is running again on the Republican ticket, and wants to see some change in the southern part of Madison County. King is now retired from Vehicle Maintenance and Roads for Richmond, but still officiates at his church.
King says the chronically overcrowded Madison County Detention center is one of his number one priorities, as it continues to operate far above capacity. Taking this dire situation into account, King reiterates that the jail must be expanded, and the money should be delegated to MCDC as opposed to a healing center.
Although he believes the rehab is not a bad idea, King elaborates that it is not guaranteed to work, and states that the jail is in desperate need of an expansion regardless. He says the home incarceration program that was implemented when he was in the position before helped ease this issue and should be used again.
With his background with the road department and vehicle maintenance as a Director, King says that the County roads, especially in the Southern part of the county, need an upgrade. King says he makes sure to secure funding for these road projects in District 4.
Lastly, King says he is not in favor of raising taxes, but that the most important thing is to push the County forward. King says the area is a place he knows and loves well, and wishes to serve the people of Southern Madison County again.
