Yates, who has a degree in electrical engineering from Arizona State and cites himself as a veteran and business owner, is originally from Eastern Kentucky. However, he says he has called Clark County and Winchester home for nearly 3 decades.
Yates explains that representation of the people of District 73 and the taxpayers in general is his main concern. He says there has not been adequate representation and voices heard from the people in Frankfort, especially as of late.
He says the state employees’ pension problems have been going on for decades, but that more money will not be solving these problems. He says that dumping more taxpayer money on the pension deficits will not fix these growing issues. He elaborates that it is not the people that have been elected that are necessarily at fault for this, but instead the government could be what is to blame.
Yates also spoke on the opioid crisis and epidemic, and says this needs to be pushed as well, especially for District 73. However, he says that there is no one solution to this monumental issue.
